Rules and Races:
9:00am-"Pentwater Tough-Man" is a 2 hour race down the North Branch starting at 72nd Ave in Hart and finishing up at Longbridge Road in Pentwater. This race allows single and tandem canoes and kayaks with a 15 minute handicap due to their agilty. This race is the Pentwater version of an Adventure Race and runs a beautiful stretch of river that remains wild as we have not cleaned or cleared the route. Expect a lot of fun as well as downfalls and trees and brush that racers must climb over and slide beneath. This race is not for the faint of heart, but will leave you with many stories for the Antler or Brown Bear. First through third will receive medals and pride in this unisex race. All canoe and kayaks makes are allowed.

11:30am-"Stand-Up Paddleboard" race takes off at Longbridge in a waterfall style start and races along the north shore of Pentwater Lake finishing up at the municipal launch. This sexy race will see paddlers racing across the lake Hawaiian style to the finish, sorry no luaus. All paddleboard types allowed. Unisex.

1:00pm-"Tandem Canoe" is a broad catagory that will allow both a mens and a womens catagory. And if pre-registration is strong we may throw in a mixed-couples catagory. We'll see. Basically two partners paddle as quickly as possible from Red Barn down the river and across the lake to the municipal ramp. Two catagories, all canoe builds are a-ok.

3:00pm- "Kayak Race" is going to be fun and competitive seeing both male and female catagories racing from Red Bridge to the Municipal Ramp in any kayak that floats regardless of make or material. We have limited kayaks for rental at $13 a pop and with a shirt and chance for a medal this is a great race to test the waters with. Medals 1-3 for both men and women. Fate is calling.

6:00pm-"Two-Person Triathlon" is our feature race. Racer #1 will run 2.6 miles from Pentwater River Outfitters down 2nd street and over to Park street and over to Hammett Road, where they will tag racer #2 who will cycle 7 miles over two loops between Hammett Road bridge and Old-31. After said 7 miles the cyclist will re-unite with their partner to canoe down the North Branch of the Pentwater River for a 3 mile canoe race down to Longbridge Rd. All tandem canoe types are allowed, all bicycle types are allowed, and all running shoes are allowed. Maps for this race are pending. As our featured event, this has the potential to be a race unlike Oceana County has seen. Medals for 1-3 for both men and women. Again T-shirts to ALL racers and the chance for medals for $12 registration prior to June 23rd what a DEAL!
